Ingredients

How to make it

  1. Blend 40ml of the white rum, the cachaça, pineapple juice, coconut cream, 10ml of the lime juice and the cream with 120g crushed ice until smooth.
  2. Pour into a hurricane glass and keep it in the freezer.
  3. Rinse the blender, then blend the remaining 45ml white rum and 20ml lime juice with the rich syrup, hulled strawberries and another 120g crushed ice.
  4. Pour the strawberry layer over the coconut layer and garnish with a pineapple wedge and strawberry.
  5. Makes about 550ml; divide between two glasses if needed.

Tip: Blend in short bursts and stop as soon as it is smooth, so it stays thick.

About the Miami Vice

A frozen Strawberry Daiquiri and Piña Colada share a glass in this resort and cruise-bar favorite. The layers can be stacked or poured side by side; there is no firmly established creator.

Missing something?

  • No White Rum? Use Gold Rum (A little richer)
  • No White Rum? Use Cachaça (Grassier and funkier)
  • No Cachaça? Use Rhum Agricole (Both are sugarcane-juice spirits)
  • No Cachaça? Use White Rum (Cleaner, less grassy)
  • No Coconut Cream? Use Cream (Loses the coconut flavour)
  • No Lime Juice? Use Lime (Squeeze fresh: 1 lime gives about 25 ml)
  • No Lime Juice? Use Lemon Juice (Softer, different aroma)
  • No Cream? Use Coconut Cream (Dairy-free; adds coconut)
  • No Rich Simple Syrup? Use Simple Syrup (Less concentrated, so use a little more)
  • No Strawberries? Use Strawberry Purée

All swaps for White Rum, Cachaça, Coconut Cream, Lime Juice and Cream
