Privacy Policy for Proof

This policy explains what information Proof handles, why, and what choices you have. It covers the Proof mobile app and the web party menu that guests open through a party QR code.

Summary

  • Recipes, your bar inventory, favorites, ratings, custom recipes, statistics and settings stay on your device.
  • Proof has no ads and no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, and never sells your data. We only count, on our own server, how many installs open the app each day.
  • Some features need our server: publishing a party menu, guest orders, Pro purchases and the AI features. Only the data those features need is sent, and only when you use them.

Information stored only on your device

  • Your bar (ingredient inventory)
  • Favorites and ratings
  • Custom recipes
  • Usage statistics (drinks made, ingredients used)
  • App settings (theme, region, units)

The region is something you pick in the app. Proof does not access your device location.

This data is not sent to us. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage deletes it.

Information processed on our servers

Our backend runs on Supabase (Supabase Inc.), which acts as our data processor.

Anonymous app ID

On first launch the app creates a random, anonymous account ID. It holds no name, email or phone number. We use it to:

  • link your published parties to you, so only you can change or delete them
  • keep track of Pro status
  • enforce daily limits on the AI features
  • count how many installs use the app each day

Daily usage count

Once a day, when you open the app, it tells our server that your anonymous app ID was active that day, together with the platform (Android or iOS) and the app version. We use this only to see how many people use Proof. It does not include what you do in the app, and it is not shared with anyone.

Party menus and guest orders

When you publish a party menu, we store:

  • the party name
  • the selected drinks
  • a random menu link
  • a push notification token for your device, so we can tell you when a guest orders

Guests who open the menu link can place orders. An order stores:

  • the drink
  • the name the guest types in
  • the order status and queue position
  • timestamps

Guests don't need an account, and the web menu uses no cookies or analytics.

Orders are delivered to the host's device. Push notifications are sent through the Expo push service (650 Industries, Inc.) and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging.

Ending or deleting a party in the app removes it from your device only. The published menu and its orders stay on our servers until you ask us to delete them (see "Retention and deletion").

AI features (Pro)

These features send content to our server, which forwards it to the DeepSeek API (Hangzhou DeepSeek Artificial Intelligence Co., Ltd.) and returns the result:

  • Scan a recipe: the photo you take or pick
  • Scan My Bar: the photo you take or pick
  • AI Bartender: the messages you type
  • AI party menus: the list of drinks on the menu

We do not store these photos or messages. We only keep a daily count of AI requests per anonymous ID, to enforce usage limits.

DeepSeek receives the content without your anonymous ID or any account details. DeepSeek processes and stores data in the People's Republic of China, which the EU does not recognise as offering data protection equivalent to the GDPR. DeepSeek may keep the content and use it to improve its services and train its models. Don't include personal or sensitive information in photos or messages you send to the AI features.

These features are optional. If you don't use them, no photos or messages leave your device.

Purchases (Pro)

Payments are handled by Google Play. We never see your payment details.

We use RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.) to confirm purchases. RevenueCat receives your anonymous app ID and your purchase history (product, date, status). We store whether Pro is active and when it expires.

How we use information

We use this information only to provide app features:

  • sharing party menus and taking orders
  • notifying hosts
  • unlocking Pro
  • running the AI features
  • protecting the service from abuse
  • counting daily and monthly users of the app

We do not use it for advertising or profiling, and we do not sell or rent it.

Sharing

We share information with these service providers, which act on our behalf to run the features above: Supabase, Google Play, RevenueCat and Expo/Firebase push.

DeepSeek also receives the content you send to the AI features. As described above, it processes that content in China and may use it for its own product development.

We may also disclose information if required by law.

Security

All data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Database access is restricted per user by row-level security. Guests can only read a menu and place orders through the menu link.

Retention and deletion

  • On-device data: kept until you delete it or uninstall the app.
  • Published party menus and their orders: kept until you ask us to delete them.
  • Anonymous ID, Pro status and AI usage counts: kept while you use the app.
  • Daily usage records: deleted automatically after 13 months.
  • Deletion requests: you can ask us to delete all server data linked to your install at any time. Email contact@maickelnieuwerth.nl; we reply within 30 days.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU), you have the right to:

  • access your data
  • correct it
  • delete it
  • restrict or object to its processing
  • receive a copy of it

Email us to use any of these rights. You can also complain to your local data protection authority; in the Netherlands, that is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

The legal basis for processing is performing the service you ask for (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in preventing abuse (Article 6(1)(f)).

Age

Proof is about alcoholic drinks and is meant for people of legal drinking age where they live. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above and publish the new version in the app and on this page.
