Ingredients
- White Rum30ml1 oz
- Dark Rum30ml1 oz
- Lime Juice30ml1 oz
- Triple Sec15ml½ oz
- Orgeat15ml½ oz
How to make it
Shake all but dark rum with ice. Strain over fresh ice. Float dark rum on top.

Created by Trader Vic in 1944. 'Mai Tai' means 'out of this world' in Tahitian.
Missing something?
- No white rum? Use Gold Rum (A little richer)
- No white rum? Use Cachaça (Grassier and funkier)
- No dark rum? Use Aged Rum (Lighter, less molasses)
- No dark rum? Use Gold Rum (Lighter, less molasses)
- No lime juice? Use Lime (Squeeze fresh: 1 lime gives about 25 ml)
- No lime juice? Use Lemon Juice (Softer, different aroma)
- No triple sec? Use Grand Marnier (Richer and cognac-based)
- No triple sec? Use Blue Curaçao (Same flavour, but turns the drink blue)
