Ingredients

How to make it

  1. Stir all ingredients with ice and strain into an old-fashioned glass over one large ice cube.
  2. Garnish with an orange twist.
  3. Use a funky Jamaican pot-still rum such as Smith & Cross.

Tip: Stir with plenty of cold, hard ice for 20 to 30 seconds. You want it chilled and silky, not cloudy.

About the Kingston Negroni

Joaquín Simó created it at Death & Co in New York in 2009, soon after Smith & Cross Jamaican rum reached the bar, and it went on the menu the following spring. The drink is named for Kingston, the Jamaican capital.

  • No Overproof Rum? Use Aged Rum (Less alcohol and less punch)
  • No Campari? Use Aperol (Lighter, sweeter and less bitter)
  • No Sweet Vermouth? Use Punt e Mes (Noticeably more bitter)
