How to make it

  1. Strain fresh watermelon juice through a fine sieve, then stir it with the tequila, triple sec, lime juice, simple syrup and water.
  2. Pour into the slushie machine and run its alcoholic preset (the batch card shows which one) until the slush is ready.
  3. Serve in salt-rimmed glasses with a small watermelon wedge.

About the Watermelon Margarita Slush

Watermelon is about 92% water and only lightly sweet, so the juice makes a fresh, light base; the simple syrup brings the sugar the machine needs to slush.

  • No Tequila? Use Tequila Reposado (Rounder, a little oak)
  • No Tequila? Use Mezcal (Adds smoke)
  • No Triple Sec? Use Grand Marnier (Richer and cognac-based)
  • No Triple Sec? Use Blue Curaçao (Same flavour, but turns the drink blue)
  • No Lime Juice? Use Lime (Squeeze fresh: 1 lime gives about 25 ml)
  • No Lime Juice? Use Lemon Juice (Softer, different aroma)
  • No Watermelon Juice? Use Watermelon (Blend fresh watermelon and strain)
  • No Simple Syrup? Use Sugar (1 tsp sugar is about 7.5 ml syrup; stir until dissolved)
  • No Simple Syrup? Use Honey Syrup (Adds honey flavour)
