About the Mezcal Mule
Jim Meehan's version at PDT in New York takes the Moscow Mule beyond a simple spirit swap. Passionfruit and cucumber balance the mezcal, while a small measure of ginger beer provides the familiar ginger note.
Missing something?
- No Mezcal? Use Tequila (Loses the smoke; a drop of Islay scotch brings some back)
- No Mezcal? Use Tequila Reposado (Loses the smoke)
- No Ginger Beer? Use Ginger Ale (Milder and sweeter)
- No Lime Juice? Use Lime (Squeeze fresh: 1 lime gives about 25 ml)
- No Lime Juice? Use Lemon Juice (Softer, different aroma)
- No Passionfruit Puree? Use Passion Fruit Purée
- No Passionfruit Puree? Use Passion Fruit (The pulp of 1 fruit is about 15 ml)
- No Agave Syrup? Use Honey Syrup
- No Agave Syrup? Use Simple Syrup (Less sweet, so use a bit more)
