Shake bourbon, gin, lime, and bitters with ice. Strain into glass. Top with ginger ale.

Created in Cairo in 1942 as a hangover cure for British soldiers.

  • No bourbon? Use Jim Beam Bourbon (Jim Beam is a bourbon)
  • No bourbon? Use Jack Daniels (Tennessee whiskey is made much like bourbon)
  • No gin? Use Old Tom Gin (Slightly sweeter)
  • No gin? Use Genever (Maltier and rounder)
  • No lime juice? Use Lime (Squeeze fresh: 1 lime gives about 25 ml)
  • No lime juice? Use Lemon Juice (Softer, different aroma)
  • No angostura bitters? Use Peychaud's Bitters (Lighter, with more anise)
  • No ginger ale? Use Ginger Beer (Spicier)
