Sea Breeze Slush

This makes a 1 litre batch for a slushie machine. The sugar and alcohol are balanced so it freezes properly, so stick to the amounts.

How to make it

Stir the vodka, cranberry juice, grapefruit juice and simple syrup together until the syrup is fully mixed in, then pour into the slushie machine and run its alcoholic preset (the batch card shows which one) until the slush is ready. Serve in highball glasses with a lime wedge.

About the Sea Breeze Slush

The first Sea Breeze, in the 1920s, was made with gin and grenadine. The vodka, cranberry and grapefruit version dates from the 1960s, when Ocean Spray promoted cranberry cocktails in its recipe booklets.

Missing something?

  • No vodka? Use Citrus Vodka (Adds a lemon note)
  • No grapefruit juice? Use Grapefruit (Squeeze fresh: 1 grapefruit gives about 150 ml)
  • No simple syrup? Use Sugar (1 tsp sugar is about 7.5 ml syrup; stir until dissolved)
  • No simple syrup? Use Honey Syrup (Adds honey flavour)
