How to make it

Blend all ingredients with half a cup of crushed ice until smooth. Pour into a large goblet and garnish with a mint sprig and a pineapple slice.

About the Missionary's Downfall

A Don the Beachcomber recipe from the 1930s and one of the earliest tiki drinks made in an electric blender. Fresh mint and pineapple make it greener and fresher than most tiki drinks.

  • No white rum? Use Gold Rum (A little richer)
  • No white rum? Use Cachaça (Grassier and funkier)
  • No peach brandy? Use Peach Schnapps (Thinner and sweeter)
  • No peach brandy? Use Apricot Brandy (Apricot instead of peach)
  • No lime juice? Use Lime (Squeeze fresh: 1 lime gives about 25 ml)
  • No lime juice? Use Lemon Juice (Softer, different aroma)
  • No honey syrup? Use Honey (Mix with the same amount of warm water first)
  • No honey syrup? Use Agave Syrup
  • No pineapple? Use Pineapple Juice (About 30ml per 4 chunks; less body when blended)
