Ingredients

How to make it

  1. Moisten the rim of a chilled coupe with lime and dip it in salt.
  2. Shake the tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice and olive brine hard with ice.
  3. Strain into the prepared glass and garnish with a lime wedge and three olives on a pick.
  4. If making a larger batch, serve the remaining drink in the shaker on the side.

Tip: Fill the shaker with ice and shake hard for 10 to 15 seconds, until the tin is frosty.

About the Mexican Martini

Austin, Texas's unofficial cocktail since the early 1980s: a margarita served up with olive brine and olives, the shaker always left on the table. Both the Cedar Door bar and Trudy's Texas Star (where it's the "Mex-Mart") claim to have started it.

Missing something?

  • No Tequila Reposado? Use Tequila (Brighter, less oak)
  • No Tequila Reposado? Use Tequila Añejo (More oak)
  • No Triple Sec? Use Grand Marnier (Richer and cognac-based)
  • No Triple Sec? Use Blue Curaçao (Same flavour, but turns the drink blue)
  • No Lime Juice? Use Lime (Squeeze fresh: 1 lime gives about 25 ml)
  • No Lime Juice? Use Lemon Juice (Softer, different aroma)

All swaps for Tequila Reposado, Triple Sec and Lime Juice
