Ingredients

How to make it

  1. Wet the rim of a margarita glass with a lime wedge and dip it in sugar.
  2. Shake the tequila, triple sec, sour mix and orange juice with ice, then strain over fresh ice in the glass.
  3. Float the amaretto on top, or serve it in a small glass on the side to pour in at the table.
  4. Garnish with orange and lime wedges.

Tip: Fill the shaker with ice and shake hard for 10 to 15 seconds, until the tin is frosty.

About the Italian Margarita

Olive Garden's signature margarita: a tequila and triple sec margarita with a shot of amaretto for an Italian accent, served on the rocks or frozen. The amaretto usually arrives in its own little glass so you can pour it in yourself.

Missing something?

  • No Tequila? Use Tequila Reposado (Rounder, a little oak)
  • No Tequila? Use Mezcal (Adds smoke)
  • No Triple Sec? Use Grand Marnier (Richer and cognac-based)
  • No Triple Sec? Use Blue Curaçao (Same flavour, but turns the drink blue)
  • No Sour Mix? Use Lemon Juice (Mix equal parts juice and simple syrup)
  • No Sour Mix? Use Lime Juice (Mix equal parts juice and simple syrup)
  • No Orange Juice? Use Orange (Squeeze fresh: 1 orange gives about 70 ml)
  • No Orange Juice? Use Blood Orange Juice (Berry-like and deep red)
  • No Amaretto? Use Frangelico (Hazelnut instead of almond)

All swaps for Tequila, Triple Sec, Sour Mix and Orange Juice
