About the Pumpkin Spice Old Fashioned
Simon Difford created this spec in October 2023, blending bourbon with a measure of high-proof rye. He found that cutting the syrup by a third still tasted fine but lost the pumpkin spice the drink is named for.
Missing something?
- No Bourbon? Use Jim Beam Bourbon (Jim Beam is a bourbon)
- No Bourbon? Use Jack Daniels (Tennessee whiskey is made much like bourbon)
- No Rye Whiskey? Use Bourbon (Softer and sweeter than rye's spice)
- No Rye Whiskey? Use Jim Beam Bourbon (A bourbon: softer and sweeter than rye)
- No Pumpkin Spice Syrup? Use Cinnamon Syrup (Same warm spice without the pumpkin; add a pinch of nutmeg)
- No Angostura Bitters? Use Peychaud's Bitters (Lighter, with more anise)
All swaps for Bourbon, Rye Whiskey, Pumpkin Spice Syrup and Angostura Bitters
