This makes a 1 litre batch for a slushie machine. The sugar and alcohol are balanced so it freezes properly, so stick to the amounts.

How to make it

Stir the vodka, lime juice, simple syrup and water together, then add the ginger beer slowly. Pour into the slushie machine and run its alcoholic preset (the batch card shows which one) until the slush is ready. Serve in chilled copper mugs with a lime wheel.

The Moscow Mule was created in Los Angeles in 1941 to help sell vodka and ginger beer, and its copper mug became its trademark.

  • No vodka? Use Citrus Vodka (Adds a lemon note)
  • No ginger beer? Use Ginger Ale (Milder and sweeter)
  • No lime juice? Use Lime (Squeeze fresh: 1 lime gives about 25 ml)
  • No lime juice? Use Lemon Juice (Softer, different aroma)
  • No simple syrup? Use Sugar (1 tsp sugar is about 7.5 ml syrup; stir until dissolved)
  • No simple syrup? Use Honey Syrup (Adds honey flavour)
