Ingredients

How to make it

  1. Gently muddle the cucumber slices in a mixing glass, just enough to release their aroma.
  2. Add the rye, dry vermouth and Amaro Montenegro, fill with ice and stir until well chilled.
  3. Fine strain into a chilled coupe and garnish with a lemon twist.

Tip: Stir with plenty of cold, hard ice for 20 to 30 seconds. You want it chilled and silky, not cloudy.

About the Cobble Hill

Sam Ross created it at Milk & Honey in New York around 2009 as a summertime Manhattan. Like the Red Hook and Greenpoint, it is named after a Brooklyn neighbourhood, and the cucumber and light, floral Montenegro keep it fresh.

Missing something?

  • No Rye Whiskey? Use Bourbon (Softer and sweeter than rye's spice)
  • No Rye Whiskey? Use Jim Beam Bourbon (A bourbon: softer and sweeter than rye)
  • No Dry Vermouth? Use Bianco Vermouth (Sweeter)
  • No Dry Vermouth? Use Lillet Blanc (Fruitier and sweeter)
  • No Amaro Montenegro? Use Amaro Nonino (Richer and less floral)

All swaps for Rye Whiskey, Dry Vermouth and Amaro Montenegro
