Cocktails with Amaro Montenegro
Amaro Montenegro is a light, floral and fruity amaro from Bologna, sweeter and gentler than most. Bartenders use it where a darker amaro would overpower, in stirred drinks like the Cobble Hill or lengthened with ginger beer or tonic.

History
Stanislao Cobianchi created it in Bologna in 1885 under the name Elisir Lungavita. He renamed it in 1896 in honour of Princess Elena of Montenegro, who married the future King Victor Emmanuel III of Italy that year.
How it’s made
Made from 40 botanicals from around the world, including orange peel, cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, coriander seed, marjoram and oregano. The botanicals are split into groups that are boiled, macerated and distilled separately, then blended with alcohol, sugar and water. A final secret distillate is added to each batch.
