Ingredients

How to make it

  1. Gently muddle the mint with the lime juice in a shaker.
  2. Add the gin alternative, syrup and ice, then shake until cold.
  3. Double strain into an old-fashioned glass over fresh ice, top with the tonic water and garnish with a mint sprig.

Tip: Press gently when you muddle. Crushing herbs too hard releases bitter flavours.

About the Zero-Proof Southside

Cut Above's published zero-proof Southside uses its gin alternative with fresh mint, lime and a small tonic top-up. The syrup balances the citrus while tonic adds a lightly fizzy finish.

Missing something?

  • No Lime Juice? Use Lime (Squeeze fresh: 1 lime gives about 25 ml)
  • No Lime Juice? Use Lemon Juice (Softer, different aroma)
  • No Simple Syrup? Use Rich Simple Syrup (More concentrated, so use less)
  • No Simple Syrup? Use Sugar (1 tsp sugar is about 7.5 ml syrup; stir until dissolved)
