- 60mlPort Wine
- 45mlDry Vermouth
- 7.5mlLemon Juice
How to make it
- Shake the tawny port, dry vermouth and lemon juice with ice and fine strain into a chilled coupe.
- Express a lemon zest over the drink and use it as the garnish.
Tip: Fill the shaker with ice and shake hard for 10 to 15 seconds, until the tin is frosty.
About the Devil's Cocktail
The recipe appears in Hugo Ensslin's Recipes for Mixed Drinks (1917), where it was stirred with just a couple of dashes of lemon. Difford's Guide's modern spec adds a little more lemon and shakes it.
