This makes a 1 litre batch for a slushie machine. The sugar and alcohol are balanced so it freezes properly, so stick to the amounts. How the sugar and alcohol limits work
Ingredients
- 650mlLemon-Lime Soda
- 60mlGrenadine
- 20mlLime Juice
- 270mlWater
How to make it
- Stir the grenadine, lime juice and water together, then add the lemon-lime soda slowly so it doesn't foam over.
- Use a full-sugar soda: diet soda has no sugar and freezes solid.
- Pour into the slushie machine and run its regular slush preset (the batch card shows which one) until the slush is ready.
- Serve in highball glasses with maraschino cherries.
About the Shirley Temple Slush
The drink is named after the child star Shirley Temple, who was served it in the 1930s; she later said she found it too sweet.
Missing something?
- No Lemon-Lime Soda? Use Lemon Soda (A little less lime flavour)
- No Grenadine? Use Raspberry Syrup (Berry instead of pomegranate)
- No Lime Juice? Use Lime (Squeeze fresh: 1 lime gives about 25 ml)
- No Lime Juice? Use Lemon Juice (Softer, different aroma)
All swaps for Lime Juice
